About David Baer from Minnesota
Welcome! I’m David Baer, a Minnesota-born and raised college student at the University of Minnesota taking up biology. I chose this as my major because ever since I was a little kid, I’ve already dreamt of becoming a doctor.
Initially, I wanted to become a veterinarian, but I think I can make a bigger impact on the world as a physician, hence this track I’ve set for myself. I’m not sure yet though what specialization I want to get into. My parents think I’d make a great surgeon, but aren’t all parents biased for their kids? Who knows. I might just be a general practitioner while doing volunteer work on the side. If there’s one thing I’m sure of about getting into this profession however, it’s that I want to maintain some work-life balance because I live an active lifestyle.
This blog is a way for me to unwind and get away from the pressures and rigors of school. I enjoy being in the great outdoors with my friends. We frequently go freshwater fishing or head to the park to play some tennis. I also play golf with my old man whenever he’s home.
My parents tell me that I’ve always been a voracious reader as a kid. I would read anything and everything I could get my hands on, and re-read them every so often. Nowadays I’ve settled on spending my free time reading science fiction books. I’m a huge fan of Orson Scott Card! Every day I wish the film adaptations of his books went to a different director but that’s another story for another day.
Thanks for reading!
